For Sacramento area businesses

Do you know which water your equipment is drinking?

The City of Sacramento’s own 2024 water quality report shows hardness ranging from 1.7 grains near the river plants to 17 grains in groundwater-served neighborhoods, with a citywide average of 8.1. Espresso equipment specs call for roughly 2 to 6. Depending on your block, your machines could be fine, or running at double the spec and scaling up every day. The only way to know is to test your line.

Espresso equipment specs call for roughly 2 to 6 grains. Anything over 10.5 is rated “very hard.” Which one is your building? That is what the free test answers.

What hard water actually costs you

Not in theory. In parts, labor, product quality, and the mornings you cannot open.

Coffee shops and cafes

Your espresso machine is the most expensive thing in the room.

Scale forms fastest where water is heated under pressure, which is exactly what an espresso boiler does all day. A replacement boiler starts around $2,000 in parts and labor, and a burnt heating element runs $200 to $400 before labor. The worst part is not the repair bill. It is the morning you open and the machine does not.

Restaurants and bars

Spotted glassware is a hard water problem, not a dish crew problem.

Hobart recommends 3.5 grains or less for its commercial dish machines. Sacramento averages 8.1 and runs far higher in groundwater areas. Minerals coat dish machine elements and ice machine evaporators, so both run hotter, longer, and fail earlier, and spotted glassware never fully polishes out.

8.1 grains

citywide average hardness, more than double Hobart's dish machine spec

Salons and barbershops

Hard water fights every color service you do.

Mineral heavy water leaves deposits on the hair shaft, which dulls color, shortens how long a treatment holds, and leaves clients saying their hair feels rough. Clients notice softer water at the bowl immediately, which makes it one of the few upgrades they can literally feel.

Laundromats

The fastest payback math of any business we treat.

Every cycle in hard water spends detergent fighting minerals instead of cleaning fabric, and scale steadily kills heating elements. Multiply that across every machine, every day, and equipment protection alone usually carries the system.

Every cycle

wastes detergent on minerals

Breweries and juice bars

Water is not an ingredient here. It is the ingredient.

When water chemistry moves, your product moves with it. Consistent treated water means the batch you make in August tastes like the batch you made in March, which is the whole game when people come back for a specific flavor.

The offer

A free water test and equipment assessment

We come to you, test the water actually coming out of your line, and check your equipment for the scale that is already there. You get the real numbers for your building, whether or not you ever buy anything from us.

Commercial grade water treatment system

Commercial systems are sized to your water and your equipment load, not sold off a shelf.

How it works

1

We test your actual water, on site

Not a guess from a zip code. We test the water coming out of your line, check your equipment for scale that is already there, and show you the numbers on the spot. About 20 minutes, no cost.

2

You get the numbers and the options

Exactly what is in your water, what it is doing to your equipment, and what treating it would cost. If your water is fine, we tell you that and leave. No pressure either way.

3

Our own crew installs it

We do not subcontract. The same team that installs it services it, and we work around your hours so you are not closing for us.

Straight answers

How long does an install take, and do I have to close?

Most commercial installs run a few hours and we schedule around your service. Cafes and restaurants usually pick an early morning or a slow afternoon. We plan the shutoff window with you in advance so nothing is a surprise.

We already have a filter on the espresso machine.

Good, that is a start, and it is usually a taste filter rather than a scale solution. Point of use cartridges do not address hardness across the rest of your equipment, so your dish machine, ice machine and water heater are still taking the full load. The free test shows you what is actually getting through.

What does it cost?

It depends entirely on your water and your equipment, and we are not going to guess at a number before we test. Commercial systems get quoted after the assessment so the price reflects your actual setup instead of a package we picked in advance.

Is the test really free?

Yes. We test your water and assess your equipment at no cost and no obligation. It is how we earn the work, and if you do not need us, that is a fine outcome.
